About Diana

Diana Benedetti was born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia,  a city of fables, history and legends which influenced her style. She has always been intrigued by the nature of the human condition and this has made her reflect on her mission de ella in her life, as an artist. Diana uses nature, color, and objects as tools to express a message of faith, hope and love.

Diana has worked professionally as a full-time artist for more than 30 years. She studied painting at Beaux Arts School as a teenager and studied Fine Arts at Georgia State University, Miami Dade College and University of Miami. In UM she attended Art History courses which have helped her expand her understanding of art and its influence in the history of humanity. Her life as a woman, a mother and a wife have also been a fountain of inspiration for her work. 

Diana's works are full of bright colors and textures that enrich the content and message of her style. She uses oils, because she is a very noble medium. “I love its brightness and smooth consistency, which lets me manipulate the paint in many ways. I also love the slow drying time and the durability of oils: With the appropriate technique, works in oil will last a lifetime.”

As a mature artist, Diana has become very well known for her realist paintings. She uses symbols, messages and objects which tell the story of our humanity, our perfections and imperfections. With her paintings of her, Diana hopes to spark emotions in the viewer and maybe change hearts to help improve the world in which we live in.

Diana has worked professionally as a full-time artist for over 30 years. She began her studies at the School of Fine Arts as a teenager and has studied fine arts at Georgia State University, Miami Dade College and the University of Miami. At the University of Miami she attended Art History courses that have helped expand her understanding of her art and the influence it has on human history. Her life as a woman, mother and wife have also been a source of inspiration for her work as a painter.

Diana's works are full of vibrant colors and textures that enrich their content and message. She uses oil paints because it is a medium that allows her to give a very particular consistency, permanent colors and unsurpassed quality. "I love the soft consistency and shine of oil paints that allow me to manipulate the paint in many ways due to its slow drying. I really like the durability of oil paint that with proper technique guarantees that a work of art will last a lifetime."

In her adulthood, Diana is recognized for her realistic work. She uses symbols that when brought together in her works tell a story of human nature, of her perfections and imperfections. Diana feels that she fulfills her mission when her work awakens emotions in the viewer. Through her talents, she aspires to improve the world and somehow make it a better place to live.
